Taroudant is located at 75 kms in the East Of Agadir. Crossroads of the South, it opens the access to the Valley of Under and with the mountains of the High Atlas in North and the Anti Atlas in the South. It gathers a population of 75.000 inhabitants approximately. It is called sometimes « Small Marrakech » but it was the first capital of the Saadiens sultans before Marrakech.

Taroudant is at the 11th century the capital of a small kingdom. Then she knows her apogee at the 16th century and then becomes a center caravaneer important, famous for the quality and the abundance of her goods: cotton, rice, sugar, spices…. At the 17th century, Taroudant was the privileged target of the military forwardings carried out by the sultans alouites and was folded up then, behind its ramparts, until 1913. One can say that Taroudant gives, by his situation, an excellent outline of the Moroccan south and his history.
